Friday the 27th of February was a very special time in 2nd class. We started on our journey to our Holy Communion by making our First Confession over in Our Lady of Victories Church.

We spent a lot of time thinking about all the bad things we have done in the past and asked God to forgive us.

We decided to 'Turn over a new leaf' and ask God to help us live as Jesus asked us to.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our parents, grandparents and other family members who came in today and volunteered to help out with our Maths for Fun initiative. We all can not wait to get started working with you all.

REMINDER

First Penance will take place in Our Lady of Victories Church on the 27th of February at 12pm. Please take the time to practice the prayers and responses with your daughter to prepare her for this special day.

We had lots of fun making healthy pancakes today. They were so easy to make. 

We made one type using eggs and banana and another type using eggs and porridge oats. The porridge pancakes were a definite favourite in the class. 
Ms Rooney gave us a helping hand and was a pro at flipping the pancakes.

We even learned a new poem:

Mix a pancake,
Stir a pancake,
Toss it in a pan.

Fry a pancake,
Toss a pancake,
Catch it if you can.

Happy Valentine's Day from second class. Take a look at the penguins we made using love heart shapes in different shapes and sizes.

In Maths lessons we have been learning all about symmetry. For our Art lesson this week we made our own symmetrical paintings using blobs of different coloured paints. We were amazed by the designs we could make by folding a page in half and smudging the paint. We used these paintings to make beautiful butterflies which are now displayed outside room 2 for all to see.

We have been hard at work over the past few weeks creating our very own constructions. Our theme was homes and as you can see from the pictures we have some very talented builders in second class. We had every type of home imaginable - princess castles, viking castles, frozen castles, fully furnished doll houses, family homes (one even with working electricity), cottages, a tree house and even a church!! 

The future is definitely a bright one for these creative little ladies :)

Today we had an action day in a school in an attempt to gain another Green Flag for our School on the theme of transport.

Well done to all of the girls who made a special effort to walk to school today as part of our Walk on Wednesday, WOW Day, initiative.

We would like to say a special thank you to SuperValu in Ballymun who provided us with some fresh apples and bananas to keep us fit and healthy, 

SuperValu were also very kind to donate a boombox to our school which is being used as part of Our Operation Transformation, involving a Drop Everything And Dance initiative every day in the school yard.
