Friday the 27th of February was a very special time in 2nd class. We started on our journey to our Holy Communion by making our First Confession over in Our Lady of Victories Church.

We spent a lot of time thinking about all the bad things we have done in the past and asked God to forgive us.

We decided to 'Turn over a new leaf' and ask God to help us live as Jesus asked us to.

We made one type using eggs and banana and another type using eggs and porridge oats. The porridge pancakes were a definite favourite in the class. 
Ms Rooney gave us a helping hand and was a pro at flipping the pancakes.

We even learned a new poem:

Mix a pancake,
Stir a pancake,
Toss it in a pan.

Fry a pancake,
Toss a pancake,
Catch it if you can.

For our Art lesson this week we made our own symmetrical paintings using blobs of different coloured paints. We were amazed by the designs we could make by folding a page in half and smudging the paint. We used these paintings to make beautiful butterflies which are now displayed outside room 2 for all to see.

Our theme was homes and as you can see from the pictures we have some very talented builders in second class. We had every type of home imaginable - princess castles, viking castles, frozen castles, fully furnished doll houses, family homes (one even with working electricity), cottages, a tree house and even a church!! 

The future is definitely a bright one for these creative little ladies :)

Today we had an action day in a school in an attempt to gain another Green Flag for our School on the theme of transport.

Well done to all of the girls who made a special effort to walk to school today as part of our Walk on Wednesday, WOW Day, initiative.

We would like to say a special thank you to SuperValu in Ballymun who provided us with some fresh apples and bananas to keep us fit and healthy, 

SuperValu were also very kind to donate a boombox to our school which is being used as part of Our Operation Transformation, involving a Drop Everything And Dance initiative every day in the school yard.

We set up two science labs - one in Ms. Callinans' room and another in Ms. Haughtons' room.

With Ms. Callinan we investigated sound and made our own whistles to make a duck sound.

With Ms. Haughton we made volcanoes and watched what happened when we mixed baking soda and vinegar.

Through this website we will be taking part in different challenges which will test our fundamental movements and skills. Over the term we will be given opportunities to practice these skills in school and at home. At the end of the term we will be tested again to see if we can beat our score.

There are lots of fun energisers on this website which we are using as busy breaks between lessons to get up and moving and give our brains a re-boot before more learning. The dancing and yoga are our favourites.
