School History
Our Lady of Victories Girls' School opened in 1965. The funds for the school were raised by the local community and parish through raffles, one which even boasted a Ford Consul car as it's main prize! The school was considered ready for occupation on the 30th June 1965, teachers and classes moved to the building from the Infants school and two separate schools were then formed.
The school takes the name of our parish church, just across the road. The Church’s title “Our Lady of Victories” is one that dates back to the Crusades. Perhaps the best known church bearing the name is the Basilica of Notre Dame des Victories in Paris. Our Church is to remind us of Mary’s role in Christ’s victory over sin and death.
