Good morning ladies,
I hope you are all well and that you have enjoyed the glorious weather we have had over the last few days! Today is your second day of your new work schedule. A reminder that this entails:
1) Core subjects - English, Irish and Maths
2) Daily Well Being task (www.olvgns.ie/daily-task.html)
3) June Activities Block 1 (www.olvgns.ie/june-activities-block-1.html)
You might recall that I have a huge interest in Irish birds. So you can imagine my surprise and delight when I received the picture below from my dad over the weekend. It is of a barn owl nesting site which is at the bottom of a chimney in one of my dad's very old barns on the farm. He had planned on doing up the barn as a project but has had to put all his plans on hold as he will have to wait until all the eggs have hatched and left the nest. This picture is on the daddy barn owl who is fast asleep after spending the whole night hunting. Can you see the dead rat and field mouse in the nest? This will be his and his partners food for the day. Isn't nature just amazing!?
Plans are in motion to install an Owl box for the fledglings and for the pair to return next year. In Irish, Barn Owls are called Scréachóg Reilige which means graveyard screecher! What a name! I promise to keep you updated!
Have a great day ladies,
Ms. Cassidy and Ms. Farrell
