Good morning lovely ladies! How are you all? I hope you are all very well and safe. Keep that up! I miss school and seeing you all everyday and the teachers and Ms. Greene but we will see each other again soon and I look forward to hearing all your news. Will Ms. Callinan and Ms. Holden need to wear their high heels as I bet you are all getting so tall?!
I hope no-one is worrying about their schoolwork and just doing their best. That's all we can do everyday. I have a little lady here at home with me who is keeping me very busy and sure sometimes I can't get my work done properly, so we will all just do our best! Our homes are very busy places at the moment so I bet you are a super help to your parents and put a smile on their faces everyday. Isn't it very important to be extra kind and nice to each other at the moment? I hope you are all enjoying the sunshine, I'm trying to spend time in the garden and walk everyday. Is anyone reading any good books? I am very glad to have some spare time before bedtime to read and it helps me to sleep really well, I sometimes fall asleep on my Kindle!! And I started a new gratitude notebook - have you been practising?
Take care of yourselves and your families and have a great weekend!

P.S. If I sometimes can't reply to you straight away, you will know a little lady here has her mammy's hands full, but I will be back to you!

P.P.S. A joke for you......Why did the student eat his homework?

Hi Ms. Callinan!
I did one of my projects - my dream job. I played vet and wrote about it.
I have a little girl here, that I have to play with, too. She is such a chatterbox!

P.S. BECAUSE the homework was about cupcakes.

P. P. S. My mom noticed, that I don't have a subtraction and addition sheet.

Good morning Alice! Lovely to hear from you! A vet - wow! What a rewarding job and you would be such a gentle, kind vet to the animals. Well done you!
I bet your chatterbox at home loves playing with you!

Sorry Alice and Marta about the addition and subtraction sheet - we were not expecting school to close that day so there were a few things myself and Ms. Holden were still organising and just didn't have that ready in time. We will include some more work this week and I bet you could practise some of your tens and units sums in your spare copy.
Mind yourselves, stay safe! We hope everyone has a very happy, healthy and safe week- enjoy the sunshine!

P.S. Great answer for the joke Alice, I like it!
Mine was 'Because her teacher told her it was a piece of cake!'

Morning girls! Happy Monday! We hope you all had a lovely, healthy weekend!

As it's Monday, and if you have access, you could work away on IXL today - continue on from where we left off. Remember you have that written in your diary. You could also do some IXL on Thursday, like we do for homework usually!

If you have access to Twinkl, type 'addition ' in the search bar for 1st/2nd class and you will find some worksheets on addition and subtraction that would make for some great revision!

Also on Twinkl this week is an excellent Easter themed pack. You will find lots of activities for some subjects , for e.g. english : word searches, creative writing; maths : symmetry activities; religion / sphe: the Easter story, kindness activities . Enjoy!

Good luck with your work plans and just do your best. You might even do some revision of spellings (use your spelling lists inside your EIP). Perhaps you have a revision test at the back of your EIP to complete. You may have some catch-up in Mental Maths also to do.
Can you do 10 minutes DEAR time Monday-Wednesday and then 10 minutes Free Writing on Thursdays and Fridays? Perhaps after your school activities for the day.

Slan go foill! Ms. Holden and Ms. Callinan.

Perhaps you will visit Spain when you're older! And dancing and baking and looking after Bella - you have been busy! I hope Bella didn't sneak too many cookies! Are there any Disney movies you would recommend for us? I hear this Sunday will be a wet day so I'll try and make the most of the dry weather until then and a movie on Sunday sounds good!

Hi girls! Ms. Callinan and I want to wish you all a lovely two week Easter break. We haven't work for you to do over the holidays. You could look up some nice Easter activities on the twinkl website, if you like. You could also look at the well being section on the school website. We will prepare work for after Easter IN CASE we don't get back to school on the 20th. Ms. Callinan and I LOVE reading and are always looking for recommendations. You could let us know of good books you read during the holidays. It would be nice to do random acts of kindness like giving Mammy and Daddy a hug and thanking them for all they do. Keep being your super selves. We look forward to hearing about your holidays. Take care and stay safe

Good morning to all the great girls from Room 10 and Room 5!!
We hope you all had a very safe, relaxing, chocolatey Easter! Are there any Easter eggs left to be eaten I wonder!!

We didn't imagine that we would be typing messages to each other on this first day back to school after the Easter holidays but well done to everyone for following the rules at the moment and standing together by standing apart. Let's keep up this hard work so we can see each other again soon!

It's nice to have the sun shining at the start of our new week, so enjoy that!

You will see our next plan of work for the following 2 weeks on the website. All we ask is that you do your best, that's all we can do! We bet you have all become super teachers as well as super pupils, organising all of your work! We're looking forward to hearing about which parts really interested you.

You might like to follow our school timetable as best you can.
This is only a guide now - the most important thing is to do what suits you and your family best on any given day!!
If the sun shines on Monday, you might want to do extra P.E. outside and save music for a wet, rainy day! You might want to do your history project everyday for a few days and then move onto geography, for example. Good luck and enjoy!

Timetable :
Start with english and then maths everyday!
Perhaps you could try some of the Gaeilge activities mentioned in the 'online resources' section of the website after maths.
Then :
Monday : History, Music, Religion
Tuesday : Geography, P.E., Religion
Wednesday : Science, Music, Religion
Thursday : Art, catch- up projects work, Religion
Friday : Test spellings, P.E., SPHE, Religion

Slan go foill cailini!

Hi Ms. Callinan, I hope you are well? I am not able to view Deirdre of the Sorrows on Twinkl for our history project. When we click on it, it asks us to subscribe to a monthly package. Has everyone else been able to view the story?
Thank you & I miss everyone,
Layla

Morning Marta! I hope you, Natalia and your family are keeping really well. I'm glad you liked the story but yes it is. Great job on your project, I look forward to seeing it. What was the most interesting fact you learnt about Ethiopia? That's fantastic that you're doing some Gaeilge work on Cogha Cogha, coinnigh suas e, maith thu!
Have a great day, Ms. Callinan.

Hi Ms Callinan, My favorite fact about Ethiopia is that the oldest human skeleton ever discovered was unearthed in Ethiopia in 1974.Nicknamed ''Lucy,'' the skeleton is OVER 3.2 million years old.It is my favorite because I think it is interesting😀😁😀😁.Stay safe Marta.

Hello Saoirse B.! Great to hear from you. You are keeping so busy, well done you! I'm so glad to hear you're doing your schoolwork as it is not easy in these unusual times, so you should be really proud of yourself.
You girls are showing a love of learning and perseverance and I couldn't be prouder!
And how mature of you to clean your bedroom and your own space. I wish my housemates would do the same!!
I hadn't heard of that show - I must look it up.
I haven't much news but I am so grateful for the nice weather and I am going to make pizzas later - yum yum!
I am off now to ring Ms. Greene as we are all busy planning and I'm really looking forward to talking to her. We have a staff meeting tomorrow and it will be great to see and hear all of the teachers - we have to act like the girls and raise our hands when we want to speak! So now the teachers are the pupils and you guys are like the teachers at home organising your work!! Imagine!
Take care and enjoy the sun.
Ms. Callinan.

So I hope you can access from signing up at www.twinkl.ie/offer. Please let me know if there are any further difficulties.
Kind regards and mind yourselves,

Hi Ms Holden and Ms Callinan,
Great to see all your faces last week. All our hair is getting longer, we'll all be in anna and elsa plaits soon:) I'm trying my best at schoolwork but I'm not getting every single thing done. My hand gets cramps from all the writing and drawing. I finished my Ethiopia project. I've been doing a lot of gardening with my dad. We planted french beans, courgettes, salads, tomatoes and microgreens. Hi to all the girls in my class ;)
Stay safe, stay happy

Hi Ruby,
I like how you signed off with stay safe, stay happy. Happiness is so important. When you find your hand gets tired, it is a good idea to take breaks. Time in the garden is a great solution. My Mam will be jealous when she hears all that you have planted!
Thank you for getting in touch. Regards, Ms.Holden

Well you have certainly spread some happiness on our blog today with your lovely message! All you can do is your best and sounds like you're doing more than that! Hope you enjoyed the project.
You could teach me a thing or two about gardening - that sounds fantastic! Bet they will taste even better when you get to eat them because you grew them yourself!
Mind yourselves, Ms. Callinan.

Hello Marta! Great to hear from you! How are you and all your family keeping?
Well done you on such great research for your project and showing such a love of learning. Can you guess which character strength I just had to practise? I had typed your message and the internet froze for some reason and I lost it. But I had a little chuckle as it reminded me of Ms. Callinan's 'friendship' with the computer in Room 10! Hah!

Morning Marta! I miss your enthusiastic, big smile everyday and your love of learning! I miss being in Room 10 with you all swell.
Well your message really put a warm smile on my face when I read all about the lovely family time you're having. That is such an added bonus during these different times and so important. Thank you for reminding us to practise the character strength 'optimism'.
That's an interesting prediction about 'The Magic Finger'. Would you turn everything gold if you had a magic finger?!
Greta to hear you're staying in touch with your friends - also very important.
Hello to Olivia P! I hope you, your mammy and all you family are very well.
Take care, Ms. Callinan.

Ah hello Makayla!
I was just checking something there and realised there were some messages from you that I hadn't seen before! I'm so sorry for that! I just missed them for some reason.
It is super to hear from you! How are you? Is Jayden keeping you busy? How often have you read 'The Wonky Donkey' to him these past few weeks!! Rebecca has wanted that as her bedtime story the past few nights! I hope you have gotten to do lots of singing and dancing. Are there any new songs that you think we would like?
Try your best with your schoolwork and don't be worrying about it - all we can do is our best!
Take care,
Ms. Callinan.

Hi Ms Callinan,
Mammy says hi too!
And my favourite fact about the wildebeests is that there is two kinds of them: they are called blue and black! But they’re greyish brown in colour so it is very interesting!
I read the magic finger book today because the weather was not too good so I did not get to go to the garden to play. I really liked the book. I love reading! ❤️❤️❤️📖📖📖

Good morning Pola! And Mammy!
That is certainly an interesting fact - isn't it funny how sometimes names make a lot of sense and then other times they're very unusual!
Ah I'm so glad you enjoyed reading the book - it really captured my imagination when I was a young girl.I used to hope I could turn my finger into a magic finger and practise on my sisters, but sadly it never worked!!
I realised yesterday we have been so lucky with the weather because I had walked every evening nearly so far. Reading is a great alternative though and there is also lots of exercise we can do indoors! Have you read any other Roald Dahl books? I would highly recommend 'Matilda' and you know the next one, 'Charlie and the chocolate factory'! I hope you get some fresh air today.
Have a great day!
Take care,
Ms. Callinan.
