Good morning girls!

Happy Friday! We hope you are all feeling really well this morning.
Well done on completing another week of schoolwork at home, we are so proud of you and all your hard work!

A little news today -  guess who is also celebrating a birthday in lockdown today??
Ms. Holden!!!
We wish you a very happy, sunny birthday Ms. Holden and are sending you some virtual strawberries to enjoy! : )

And luckily for Ms. Holden – it is a bank holiday weekend – so if we had have been in school there would be a day off on Monday. So enjoy the rest day and we’ll start back with a new plan of work on Tuesday. Oh my goodness, it will be June then so we have prepared slightly different work that we know you will enjoy!

You may have seen this on Ms. Greene’s blog but this Sunday we are participating in a special event to show our support for Ms. Durnin and her husband Niall who became very unwell last December. Ms. Durnin is like our fairy godmother in the office- she is so calm, kind and patient, all day everyday!! No matter what we ask her, she always helps us with a smile. We are so grateful that she is our secretary and now we want to support her and her family. We will all go, insofar as possible, for a good long walk this Sunday, hopefully in the sunshine! We will then donate money on the established Go Fund me page. You might think of Ms. Durnin and her family on Sunday when you get some fresh air or you might even like to walk also at 2pm. The staff are wearing something blue on the day to show our school spirit.
Can you guess what blue item Ms. Callinan will wear this Sunday? There will be a homework pass when we return to school for the first girl who can guess what the blue item will be!! Comment on the blog here with your answer! Good luck!  : )

Good luck with your spelling test today and enjoy some P.E. in the fresh air if possible!!

Here’s today’s timetable!
Timetable :
  1. Spelling Test + a dictation sentence if you can.
  2. E.I.P.
  3. Handwriting practise.
  4. Mental Maths
  5. Maths : Counting work, then Busy at Maths work : pg. 126 – count in 5s.
  6. Irish – see school website.
  7. P.E. – see school website.
  8. S.P.H.E. – Water safety – thinking of the summer ahead!
Check out the ‘Well-being’ section of the website. Under the ‘Daily Task’ you will find just that. Let us know how you are getting on with the tasks, we’d love to hear from you. You might decide to do the daily task instead of a different subject on the timetable and that is ok girls, just please try to get your English and maths done first!
  1. Religion : Prayers- Act of Sorrow, Mass responses, Revision : ‘Zacchaeus’ story on Twinkl.

Have a super, safe weekend!
Mind yourselves,
Ms. Callinan and Ms. Holden.

P.S. Sorry for the very long blog – I know myself and Ms. Holden are chatterboxes ; ) but there was just a lot of news for us today! : )

Hello, girls! Happy Wednesday! Half way through the week already; this week is going faster than last week, anyway!

Have many people made a time capsule or a memory box yet? We are very interested to hear what you have done to remember this very unusual time in our history! We all miss our family and friends. What else will you remember from this time? Ms. Callinan will remember getting to spend extra time with her daughter while juggling working from home. Ms. Holden will find it hard to believe that she wasn't anywhere, not even a shop, for MONTHS!! And Ms. Holden will remember missing her speedy broadband connection in Dublin while working from her parents' house in Carlow!!

Timetable:

1. Spellings
2. E.I.P.
3. Reading of Chapter 7 and Chapter 8. Write a list of supplies you would need if you were going to camp with the three farmers.
4.Mental Maths
5,Maths counting work and Busy at Maths pg 113 Puzzles

7. Science- Materials; what is a Shadow? Written exercise in your copy and have fun exploring your shadow!
8. Music- see school website
9. Religion-Prayer: Glory be to the Father.Look up 'The Lost Sheep' Powerpoint on Twinkl
10. Check out the well-being section on the website for your daily task!

Remember, we love to hear from you. Have a wonderful Wednesday! Ms. Holden and Ms. Callinan

Good morning girls!

Happy Tuesday! We hope you are all feeling really well this morning.
Did you enjoy Ms. Holdens’ gorgeous ‘Rainbow Breathing’ well-being activity yesterday? I did it lying on a blanket yesterday evening in my garden and it was such a relaxing exercise in the sunshine! I’ll hopefully do it again today.

Now I also read an interesting fact yesterday, that when we aren’t feeling very positive and happy, it’s difficult to feel motivated to do things. But if you get up and start an activity, you then feel like doing things. So, on these sunny, warm mornings, we totally understand how difficult it feels to motivate yourselves to start your schoolwork but just begin by opening your copy to do your spellings and see how you get on. You might find you get your E.I.P. , reading and M.M. done before you know it! That would be a great start and you’re closer to getting your schoolwork done and off playing again!
Enjoy today’s well-being task!

Here’s today’s timetable!
Timetable :
  1. Spellings
  2. E.I.P.
  3. Reading and reading activity ( What’s Mr. Fox up to today??)
  4. Mental Maths
  5. Maths : Counting work, then Busy at Maths work.
  6. Irish – see school website.
  7. Geography – Heat : Countries around the world.
  8. P.E.– see school website. Outdoor activity safely would be super today!
  9. Religion : Prayers- Hail Mary, Mass responses, Communion Workbook pg. 24.
*Check out the ‘Well-being’ section of the website. Under the ‘Daily Task’ you will find just that. Let us know how you are getting on with the tasks, we’d love to hear from you. You might decide to do the daily task instead of a different subject on the timetable and that is ok girls, just please try to get your English and maths done first!

Good morning girls!

Happy Wednesday! Wasn’t yesterday evening lovely and warm. We hope you enjoyed it. Helloooo summer! We understand it is very difficult to concentrate on schoolwork at home during these warm days so just continue to do your best!

Have you any kindfulness stories to share with us?
How are you getting on with the daily tasks?

On my walk yesterday evening, I found the loveliest thing – I went to press the button on the traffic light pole to cross the road and guess what was there? A stone - painted a lovely bright yellow and it had the words ‘Be Kind’ painted on it in purple. And it made me think of kindfulness! And then we spotted more stones all along our route – 2 were painted like ladybirds. I think these are ‘good energy stones’ that are painted and put on pillars / walls to brighten your day! Have you done that? I’m going to paint one today and leave it out on a signpost in our estate when we go for our walk later – it might just cheer someone up when they see it!

Here’s today’s timetable! I’m excited about seeing what today’s daily task will be!
Timetable :
  1. Spellings
  2. E.I.P.
  3. Reading and reading activity ( What’s Mr. Fox up to today??)
  4. Mental Maths
  5. Maths : Counting work, then Busy at Maths work.

  7. Science – Where light comes from?
  8. Music – see school website.
  9. Religion : Prayers-Glory be to the Father, Mass responses, ‘The Loaves and the Fishes’ story on Twinkl.

Good morning, ladies! Happy Tuesday! We hope that everyone is keeping well and minding each other. Ms. Holden learnt a new word the other day; 'Kindfulness'. It means showing kindness and self compassion towards yourself and being mindful.

Isn't it a great word? It is so important that we show kindfulness, especially when things are hard. Maybe you could put on the kettle for a cuppa for an adult in your house or maybe you could read a story to a younger sibling. You could show kindfulness towards yourself, if you get stuck on a Mental Maths question, or surprise someone in your house with a hug that you both get to enjoy!

Timetable :
  1. Spellings
  2. E.I.P.
  3. Reading and reading activity: Fantastic Mr. Fox continued
  4. Mental Maths
  5. Maths : Counting work, then Busy at Maths work.
  6. Irish – on the website.
  7. Geography- Heat: Countries Around the World
  8. P.E.- on the website
  9. Religion- Hail Mary prayer, Mass responses, Communion workbook
  10. Remember to check out the ‘Well-being’ section of the website. Under the ‘Daily Task’ you will find just that! Every day from now on, you will find a task that will, we hope, improve your well-being. You might decide to do the daily task instead of a different subject on the timetable and that is okay girls, just please try to get your English and Maths done first!

We never get tired of hearing from you in the comments section! Remember to be kindful!

Have a terrific Tuesday, Ms. Holden and Ms, Callinan

Good morning ladies!
Happy Monday!

How was your weekend? Wasn’t the sunshine lovely. Myself and Ms. Holden really enjoyed the fresh air this weekend – it certainly puts us both in a good mood and takes the worries away! Now this is  a looooooooong post this morning, so :

  1. Today is a busy day. It is the 18th of May and our Taoiseach told us that on the 18th of May, a new plan begins that will allow us to see some more family / friends in a safe way. I bet you are all very excited about these new rules. There’s a little girl in Ms. Callinan’s house who cannot wait to see her nanas and grandads and play with them safely in her garden. While it has been so difficult for you not seeing family and friends, today is the day when hopefully we get closer to seeing each other soon. That’s put a big smile on our faces this morning and gives us something to look forward to.

  1. Today is also the day when we start a new plan of work for the next 2 weeks! Yippee!!
Check it out in the ‘School Closures’ section in the website. Good luck! And
remember to just always do your best and that is always enough.

  1. Here is a timetable that you might like to follow and it will help to give your schoolwork some routine. Would you be an extra special superhero these 2 weeks and really try your best with your schoolwork and help your mammies and daddies teach you? After this, the month of June will be upon us and we will look forward to the summer holidays. So, let’s try and keep going with our work as best we can. We are so proud of you!! There are days when myself and Ms. Holden find it difficult to concentrate and then we read about all your hard work on the blog and we just want to do the best we can then, like you!

Timetable :
  1. Spellings
  2. E.I.P.
  3. Reading and reading activity ( A new book for us this fortnight – can’t wait to hear what you think of the story!)
  4. Mental Maths
  5. Maths : Counting work, then Busy at Maths work.
  6. Irish – on the website.
  7. History – Lesson on Heating homes long ago.
  8. Music – see website.
  9. Religion : prayers, mass responses, Communion workbook page on work plan.

  1. Check out the ‘Well-being’ section of the website. Under the ‘Daily Task’ you will find just that! Every day from now on, you will find a task that will, we hope, improve your well-being. We learnt this year how important that is. So, we hope you get a chance to look at it everyday and enjoy the tasks. Let us know how you are getting on with the tasks, we’d love to hear from you. Today’s task looks like just the thing for a rainy morning! You might decide to do the daily task instead of a different subject on the timetable and that is ok girls, just please try to get your English and maths done first!

Have a magic Monday!
Ms. Callinan and Ms. Holden.
