Please see below the September Newsletter that was issued to all children today. 3rd, 4th , 5th and 6th class parents are asked to return the permission slip for school excursions as soon as possible- it will help enormously with the administration side of organising school trips! 2nd class parents have already given permission on the new enrolment form they filled out in February 2019.
Parents/Guardians: Please ensure you read the following documents. Many thanks, Lorna Greene School Principal
It has been a busy few months here in OLV! We have celebrated World Book Day, International Women's Day, St Patrick's Day and Easter! Our 6th Classes celebrated their Confirmation on 6th April and our 2nd Class girls will celebrate the Communion on 26th May. We are really looking forward to a busy last few months with Rugby Blitzs, Sport for All Day and school tours coming up! A huge thank you to Ms Cassidy who approached our insurance company Allianz to get some sponsorship for our football teams. Ciarán Whelan visited the school yesterday to present us with 10 footballs. We are absolutely delighted! We are looking for help in sponsoring a new school football kit, so if anyone has any connections- get in touch!
TO CELEBRATE ST. PATRICK’S DAY, WE WILL BE HAVING OUR ANNUAL CÉILÍ IN THE SCHOOL HALL ON FRIDAY 15TH MARCH. Due to health and safety concerns we will have two céilí sessions this year. 9.30am classes: Ms O Dea, Ms Farrell-McCabe, Ms Behan, Ms Farrell 11.30am classes: Ms Haughton, Ms Cassidy, Ms Bourke, Ms Ferriter, Ms Smith We anticipate the Céilí will last no more than an hour. If you have children in both Céilí you are more than welcome to wait in the Parents’ Room between each Céilí. No parent may wait in the hall as the Infant School will be using it at 10.30am. Under no circumstances will a child be allowed to be collected after their Céilí- it is a normal school day otherwise. Our newly formed ‘Mad for Trad’ band will perform at both Céilí. The girls are invited to wear green, white and orange on the day! We are looking forward to the day and the children have been practising their DANCING AND SINGING. Unfortunately, there is no room for buggies due to the limited space, parents are asked to leave buggies at home. There will be an entry charge of €2 per person- this will go towards fundraising for costumes and part payment of the IXL membership. Have your party piece ready, you may be called upon! BAIN SPRAOI AS CEOL
Wednesday mornings: 8.15 am-9.50 am : Room 8 (Ms.Cassidy) WHO IS IT SUITABLE FOR? Music is an integral part of our school day here in Our Lady of Victories GNS. With this in mind, it seemed like a natural progression that a school band should develop, tapping into the wealth of musical talent evident in our pupils. This class is suitable for children of all ages from second class up to sixth class. Teaching of the class is tailored according to ability, making sure that everybody can progress and enjoy the music together. The main focus of the class is the effective development of musical and performance skills. Traditional music offers many opportunities for children, not only to develop a love and understanding of music, but also to engage socially with their peers. Through playing together children not only improve their musical skills, children also develop self-esteem and vital social skills that are so hugely important in their growth .Perhaps most importantly of all, though, being part of this superb musical team will build and reinforce a strong sense of community and pride in all of us – children and adults alike. Bí Páirteach! Ms.Cassidy Bíonn an Club Spraoi ar siúl gach Déardaoin 2.30pm -3.30pm. Bíonn an Club Spraoi ar siúl do Ranganna 2 ,3 ,4 ,5 agus a 6. By doing this we hope to positively impact the children’s experience of our native Irish language and culture.
