Lá Fhéile Vailintín.
Bhí sagart óg ann darbh ainm Vailintín. Sagart cneasta ab ea é.Ni raibh cead ag na saighdiúirí óga i Róimh pósadh.Bhí brón ar Vailintín.Ba mhaith leis na daoine a bheith pósta.Rinne Vailinitín an pósadh faoin rún.Cuirtear i bpriosún é toisc gur lig dó na daoine óga phósadh.
Cuirtear an sagart óg Vailintín chun bás nuair a chuala an Rí cad a bhí á dhéanamh ag Vailintín. Ni raibh áthas ar an Rí Claudius 11 faoi seo.
Lá Fhéile Vailintín sona daoibh go léir.
The Roman Emperor Claudius II wanting to have a strong army of young soldiers banned marriage in Rome. The young soldiers were disappointed and wanted to marry their girlfriends .A young priest called Valentine, who was very kind liked to see young couples getting married. He wanted them to be happy. He performed the wedding for these young couples in secret. When the Roman Emperor heard about this he had Valentine captured and imprisoned. If Valentine renounced his faith and became a Roman he would be freed. But Valentine didn’t renounce his faith and was sentenced to death. He wrote letters to his friends from prison and asked to be prayed for by writing Remember your Valentine.
Another story tells us that Valentine cured the jail-keepers daughter from blindness. He touched the blind girl Julia’s brow and she was immediately granted her sight. It was a miracle!Valentine was killed on the 14th or the 24th of February in the year 269 or270. We celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14th in honour of St.Valentine.

The relics of St Valentine are in the Carmelite Whitefriar Street Church,Dublin.
Naomh Vailintín,guí orainn.
