What a busy week 3rd class had at the end of October! Aside from getting prepared for our annual Halloween dress up assembly the girls were guests of Dublin city council for the opening of Our Lady's Garden.
This space had become a magnet for unwanted goods and rubbish and the residents were determined to clean it up and create a space that would be more welcoming. Demonstrating their creative skills 3rd class created animals on stones using acrylic paint which they placed in the garden during the open ceremony. The girls also assisted the gardener by planting bulbs which will bloom in early spring. The idea is that as the garden blooms, it will be less likely to be targeted by littering and dumping. The garden is now a bright, clean and welcoming space where residents can sit down and take time to reflect.
