This years Green Schools Theme

Global Citizenship – Energy is the seventh theme in the Green-Schools Programme.
It is a maintenance theme which revisits our school’s efforts on the Energy theme while expanding to look at energy and climate issues worldwide.

What is Global Citizenship?

Citizenship means being a member of and supporting one's community and country. With citizenship comes certain rights and certain responsibilities. A global citizen is someone who is aware of and understands the wider world – and their place in it. They take an active role in their community and work with others to make our planet more peaceful, sustainable and fairer.

How do we link a Global dimension to the theme of Energy?
The most obvious global link to the Energy theme is Climate Change as this, the most serious environmental problem of our time, is intrinsically linked to energy use. The problems associated with Climate Change are vast, and they impact both the environment and people all over the globe, in particular people in developing countries.

Bike Week

25/9/2020

This week we celebrated Bike Week in OLV. The girls made an extra special effort to "wheel" their way to school and it was so lovely to see our bike shed filled with bikes, scooters, flickers and the likes.
The girls who made the effort to help our environment and "wheel" their way to school were rewarded by taking part in an upcycling activity with Ms. Haughton. We spray painted old bike rims which we are going to use for a very special display in our new bike sheds. Check out the pictures below.
