Park stewardship is a program that helps children feel more connected to nature through fun activities such as scavenger hunts, arts and crafts, and other outdoor games over nine weeks. In week one, we got to know the instructors and learned more about the area by identifying certain plants and learning about them. As the visits to the park went on, we got into doing more crafts, like making characters out of clay, sticks and pinecones, making candles using twine, clay, and nutshells, and painting using ink made from a tree, even catching bugs using special containers to look at them. In the second-to-last week, we went on a trip to Bull Island, where we learned about animals and plant species that live there. We even got a chance to play on the beach.
