Hi, my name is Lexi. I am in sixth class this year and this is what our girls' school GAA team got up to. We have an Eagles team and a Hawks team. The Eagles team is mostly 6th class girls and I’m on that team. The Hawks team is for the fourth and fifth classes, but some of the 6th class girls had to go on the Hawks to fill up the roster.
Back in June 2024, the Eagles won a Fingal League Championship and got this big trophy. It was when we were in fifth class but it was so exciting to have our whole school cheer us on from the sidelines when we won.
From September to October the two teams competed in the Cumann na mBunscoil league, where our Hawks made it to round 3 and our Eagles team made it to the semi-finals. Sadly we lost but we played against a really strong team and we are proud of our achievements of getting so far.
We have four amazing coaches/teachers, who take the time to train us after school and bring us to all the matches. We all look forward to getting back into training and competing in more matches when the next league starts in the new year!
