We spent a sunny Monday afternoon making 'pinch pots' and then creating our own designs from clay. We can't wait to paint them! We joined Ms. Fleming's class in Room 5 for an informative and fun workshop about litter and recycling. We were taught about many things including the bad effect litter can have on animals. We also had great fun creating original and unique art pieces from reused materials.
We are studying invertebrates in room 7, and decided to make a wormery to observe their movements. We have it covered in black paper as we know worms don't like light. We have already noticed that the layers of soil are starting to mix slightly and have seen two worms out at the edge of the bottle on separate occasions. It is very interesting to observe, and we are sketching and changes we notice in our copies.
We made delicious chocolate cheesecake in the Parent's Room, and wrote great procedures too! We couldn't wait till the cheesecake set... we had a fun party in room 7 when it was FINALLY ready!
We tested various food samples with iodine. The samples that contained carbohydrates turned black. We had great fun investigating!
We had a visitor, to school in preparation for St. Brigid's Day. Ann taught us how to weave using a wooden tool, known as a loom and also using a bicycle wheel! Collectively, all the classes had made a fabulous St. Brigid's cloak by the end of the day. A few of us made St. Brigid's crosses too. |
