Rolla: Thursday 30th April

30/4/2020

 Good morning girls!

A note from Ms Smith
Hi girls,
How are you doing? What’s your plan today?
Ms Behan and I had a big chat yesterday on a WhatsApp video call and it was really nice to catch up with her!
Trudy (my tortoise) was not impressed with the rain yesterday, she grumpily hid in her shell under a bush for most of the day. She poked out her head once or twice for food but I think she was having a snuggly duvet day in her shell. I've put a little picture of her sulking in the rain down below 🐢🌧
Let me know how you’re getting on! Be sure to pop your name into the Rolla. Leave a comment below if you need any help with the work or even just say hello! Your messages make me smile. 😊
Missing you all,
Ms Smith

A note from Ms Behan
Good morning girls!
How are you today? I can't believe it's Thursday already, and the last day of Spring!
Ms Smith and I had a video chat yesterday! It was lovely to see her and she showed me an adorable picture of her niece Eleanor!
I was planning on cutting the grass in my front and back garden yesterday, but then it rained so I couldn't do it. Hopefully the grass will have dried up enough for me to do it today! My garden is looking quite messy!!
What activities have you been doing this week? Let me know in the comments below, or if you need help with your work!
Have a wonderful day, ladies!
Ms Behan

Sign on to the Rolla to let us know you're with us today!

Good Morning girls,

A note from Ms Behan
Good morning girls!
Hope you're all doing well!
Did you watch Primetime on RTE One last night? Our school was featured for a few minutes, and they spoke about all the hard work Ms Greene and Ms Hickey are doing!
Have a great day, girls, and let me know of there's anything I can help with.
Miss you all!
Ms Behan

A note from Ms Smith
Hello! Happy Wednesday!
How are you doing today? I'm doing ok, missing my sister and my little niece a lot.
Eleanor (my niece) has gotten so cute and pudgy, she's getting really good at sitting up on her own and says "ah-woo!" when she sees me (I think that's her way of saying hello). All the social distancing and following the guidelines will be worth it when we all get through all this safely.
Yesterday I did my exercise in the morning and some yoga. I'm quite wobbly at it but I'm slowly getting better!
I watched Primetime last night to see our school and the boy's school, did you see it? Ms Hickey and Ms Greene were on it too! You can check it out on the RTÉ Player if you want.
What are you planning on doing today? Have you any news for me? Leave a comment below, even if it's just to say hi!
Missing gach duine,
Ms Smith

Lots of people have signed up to our Rolla each day! Thanks girls! Keep it up and we'll have a nice big list for Jackie!

Good morning girls!

A note from Ms Smith:
Good morning ladies,
I hope you’re getting on ok! Have you any news for me? Thank you for entering your name yesterday, I’ll be keeping track of the names and sending a list to Jackie later in the week. Yesterday I did some tidying, there was an area in my house I’ve been meaning to clean and organise for ages but never got around to it! Feel so good now it’s done! Let me know what you’re working on today and if you need a hand, drop a comment and I’ll be here to help 😊 Ms Smith

A note from Ms Behan:
Hello ladies! Hope you had a good night's sleep and that you're well today.
I didn't do anything too exciting yesterday, just lots of housework! What have you been doing around the house to lend a hand? Tell me in the comments below!
Thank you so much for doing the Rolla yesterday! Make sure you do it everyday, girls! We were doing so well with our attendance in school, it'd be amazing to still win the trophy even when we're not in school!!
Have a great day! 😊

NEW UPDATE!

We have decided to take a roll call each day so can continue on with our BEST ATTENDANCE AWARD.

Good morning girls!

We hope you are all keeping well and that you had a nice weekend!

A note from Ms Behan:
Hi girls! How are you all?
I'm fine! I had quite a nice weekend. I cut my grass so my garden looks nice and neat! I made pancakes on Saturday morning and they were delicious!
It was my Mam's birthday on Sunday so we had a big family video call and sang her happy birthday! It was so hard not being able to give her a hug but hopefully with everyone following the rules it won't be too long until we can see each other in person again!

A note from Ms Smith:
Hello there! How are you?
I'm keeping well, had a nice weekend. Got out for a walk around my estate. In some houses I see children have decorated their windows with posters and pictures with lovely messages of kindness. I've also seen little decorated stones with little "Stay Safe" messages on walls and gate posts as I walk down the road. Amazing acts of kindness around the place, makes getting out for fresh air feel safe and nice!
Trudy (my tortoise) is loving the warm, sunny weather! She's stomping around the garden and eating loads of cucumber and lettuce!

Roots of Empathy - Baby Riain

23/4/2020

 Hi girls!

Hope you and your families are keeping safe and well.

Jackie sent me a picture and a video of Riain from Martina to share with you all! Martina says that he's doing well and keeping busy playing lots of games and going out for little walks. They are missing you girls very much!

What changes can you see in Riain since he last visited our class? Tell me in the comments below!

Missing you all so much!

Hello girls!

We hope you had a nice break for Easter, ate some chocolate eggs and relaxed!

We have set work to be done across 2 weeks, try your best with it, if you don’t get everything finished it will be OK.
Ms Greene has posted it under the Enforced Closure section of the website, scroll down to 4th class to find it.
Click here for Enforced Closure section:  http://www.olvgns.ie/enforced-closure.html

Please leave a comment below if you've any questions about the work, if you want to tell us some news or even just to say hi! We love reading your messages!

Please remember to use this comment section appropriately- it is a public forum, so everyone will be able to see your comments and questions. If you need to contact your teacher privately, email Ms Greene on [email protected] and she can pass on your message.

If you want some extra links/websites to help you with work, or cool websites for different subject areas to check out; click on the Online Resources section and links are available there!
Click here for Online Resources section: http://www.olvgns.ie/online-resources.html

This is a tough time for everyone, children and adults, try and look after your own mental health, be kind to yourself. You can try some mindfulness, recall your Weaving Well-being strategies to practice your resilience and also deep breathing to help you if you're worried, anxious or scared. Ms. Greene has opened a Well-Being section to the website, go check it out and put some ideas into practice.
Click here for Well-Being section: http://www.olvgns.ie/well-being.html

Continue to help out with jobs and chores around the house to help your parent(s)/guardians, just like you would in school. We can't wait to hear how you've gotten good at making the bed or cooking a meal or fixing a gadget or doing the vacuuming or baking treats. The adult(s) at home, we're sure, are impressed by how helpful and responsible you are being!

Keep active everyday, exercise helps your mind when you're feeling stressed or worried. Set some personal records, then try and beat them the next day. Try and get some fresh air everyday, hopefully the nice weather sticks around for a while!

We miss you all so much, it's hard but we are doing the right thing by sticking to the rules about social distancing. It'll be worth it when we're all back together safely and well, knowing we did the right thing to keep everyone safe. Hopefully if we all keep it up we'll be back together soon!

Stay safe,

 Ms Smith and Ms Behan

Happy Easter! Cáisc Shona Daoibh!

3/4/2020

Hello girls!

Hope you and your families are all doing well and keeping safe.

If we were in school the Easter holidays would start today (Friday 3rd of April) at 12pm. So, please take the next two weeks (until Monday the 20th of April) to take a break from school work. We do not expect you to do school work over the next two weeks.

We will not give you work to do over the Easter holidays because that two weeks is a break from school and school work.

If you would like to, you can take part in Ms Greene's challenges or do arts and crafts or do some Easter themed cards and crafts. Keep up some reading, we hope too! We want you to have a nice break for those two weeks.

Ms Behan and Ms Smith love your messages and comments on our blog, thank you so much if you messaged us! If you want to leave us a comment over the next two weeks, please do, and we’ll get back to you after the Easter holidays!

Please keep helping out at home, keep reading, keep screen-time down, keep active.

But most importantly, keep safe!

Enjoy the Easter holidays!
Missing you all,

Ms Behan & Ms Smith
