On the 13th of June, Ms. Cassidy's class were very fortunate to be chosen by Mrs. Shannon to attend a 'Fighting Words' workshop. Fighting Words is a creative writing centre established by Roddy Doyle and Sean Love. Inspired by 826 National in the United States, Fighting Words is located on Behan Square, Russell Street, Dublin 1 – (very close to Croke Park.) Fighting Words workshops are created and run by volunteer writing tutors including professional writers - novelists, screen-writers, journalists, poets - aspiring writers, student teachers from DCU and all the Dublin colleges of education, retired teachers and many more people who are just keen to be involved in creative work. Fighting Words helps students of all ages to develop their writing skills and to explore their love of writing. They provide story-telling workshops for primary school groups and during our workshop our very talented girls created a story entitled 'The Magical Lamp'. Their writing skills were that impressive that the writing tutors decided to publish our story on the ‘Fighting Words’ website so that everyone can enjoy it!! Please have a read of our wonderful story. We hope you enjoy reading it!https://www.fightingwords.ie/stories/magical-lamp |
