Friday 15th May

15/5/2020

Happy Friday! How is everyone feeling today? This morning, lockdown felt a bit hard. A walk in the fresh air helped. Do you have any strategies or activities that you find helpful when lockdown is frustrating? Feel free to share your suggestions or comments on the blog. We love to hear from you!

We hope that you do well  in your weekly spelling test. Remember, 'Don't get stressed, just do your best!!!'As we like to remind you, your well being and happiness is very important. So, if you do not do as well as you would like, aim to do better next week.

Next, say to yourself 'Hocus, pocus I  can focus!'  Work at your schoolwork for a while, so that later you can pack it all away and enjoy the weekend!

Stay safe and have a great weekend, Ms. Callinan and Ms. Holden

Morning ladies!

Happy Thursday!
We hope you are really well this morning and looking forward to starting your schoolwork and then getting out into the sunshine if you can! Have you learnt any interesting facts this week? Don't forget that on Thursday, we need to practise all of our spellings from this week for our test tomorrow.

Now before you start into the english work first, with permission from mammy / daddy / an adult, stop and drop everything and click into this link..........https://youtu.be/jIgRTPglVaI..........and dance / move yourselves happy along with it! From beginning to end! Maybe some family can join in this dance break with you too!
As we said yesterday, we may not always feel happy, but there are things we can do to feel happy again so try out some more dance breaks if you enjoyed that. You might even find that when you start your work, you have a little bit more energy to do it.

Have a terrific Thursday!
Ms. Callinan and Ms. Holden.

Wednesday 13th May

13/5/2020

Good morning, ladies! Happy Wednesday! We hope it IS happy. We know it is not easy to be cheerful all the time. If you are not having a good start to the day, we hope that you are being kind to yourself or giving yourself a hug! You could click on the School Closure section to see a little video of all the staff from the Girls' school. Hopefully, that will make you smile.

Yesterday, all of the teachers and the SNAs had a staff meeting. It was so nice to see all of those familiar faces. Ms.Greene said that she had received positive feedback-meaning thumbs up!-from our phone calls which means hopefully we'll phone you all again in a few weeks! That is something that we will be looking forward to.

Remember, to start with Maths and English every day. Thank you to those of you who have sent us comments on the blog. It is always lovely to hear from you. Have a wonderful Wednesday, Ms. Holden and Ms. Callinan

Good morning ladies!

Happy Tuesday? How is everyone today? In great form we hope!

How is this week's work going? Keep up the excellent work in english and maths, just like you would have done for homework. Did you get to try out some of the Irish links in the 'Online Resources' section of the website? We hope you are enjoying your projects. P.E. day today if that suits you - isn't it great that we have had so much sunshine on our P.E. days, enjoy!!

We have a staff meeting today and cannot wait to see all the other teachers and Ms. Greene. It does get very busy though - can u imagine all the teachers on the computer screen at once!

Have a great day ladies and mind yourselves as always. Don't forget to leave a comment to say hi or ask a question!
Ms. Holden and Ms. Callinan.

Monday 11th May

11/5/2020

Good morning, ladies! Happy Monday! Hard to believe that we are at the start of another school week in lockdown. We should all give ourselves a pat on the back and say 'Well done, me for getting through another week of home school'. We know it is not easy to work from home while missing your friends. .

Did many people have  a go at learning the song 'A Million Dreams?'. Music is great for putting people in a good mood! Maybe one of you will suggest a song that we could try another week! Keep the comments and news coming; we love to hear from you .

Remember to start each day with English and Maths followed by three other subjects;
Monday: History, Music, Religion
Tuesday: Geography, P.E., Religion
Wednesday: Science, Music, Religion
Thursday: Art, catch up with work you haven't finished, Religion
Friday: Test spellings, P.E., S.P.H.E. religion

Have a mega Monday, Ms. Holden and Ms. Callinan

Good morning ladies!
Thank Crunchie it's Friday!! We hope you are all really well on this sunny morning.

Best of luck with your spelling test today! Have you practised any dictation at home? Perhaps now, Mammy / Daddy / older sibling , could call out a sentence that contains one of your spellings and you could write it after your spelling test. Don't forget to check for capital letters and full stops! Dictation is an excellent exercise and you could even revise some of the spellings you have learnt before!

We hope you get outside for some P.E. today in the sunshine. Enjoy finishing off projects you have started.

I heard a new word on the radio yesterday - 'Coronacoaster' instead of rollercoaster. Isn't that catchy! It means that at this time life seems a bit like a rollercoaster - sometimes you feel up, sometimes you feel down. Perhaps we could share on Monday what our 'up' of the weekend was and that will brighten up next Monday morning for us!

If anyone wants to look at some of the extra 'Online Resources' section of the website as today is Friday, you might want to check out the maths section. There are some great links there and you might get to use your e.g. fractions,  knowledge in a fun way. 'Topmarks' is also a good site, along with 'mathsisfun'.

Have a great weekend! Stay safe!
Ms. Holden and Ms. Callinan.

Good morning, ladies. Happy Thursday! Yesterday, we really enjoyed talking with more of you and your parents. It was great to hear of all the different ways that you are keeping busy and having fun while in lockdown. We are so impressed with the amount of work and effort you have put in with your schoolwork. We are SUPER, DUPER proud of you and hope you are proud of yourselves too.

Remember, you can follow the rough timetable each day, if that works best for you . Start each day with English and Maths and then do three other subjects.. A few people mentioned Irish during our chats. For Irish, you can look up some of  resources on the blog or watch The School Hub on RTE 2, or some cartoons on TG4 television. Here is the timetable should you choose to follow it;

Monday: History, Music, Religion
Tuesday: Geography, P.E. Religion
Wednesday: Science, Music, Religion
Thursday: Art, catch up with projects or work you haven't finished,Religion
Friday: Test spellings, PE, SPHE, Religion

There is no rolla to fill out today. Feel free to keep sending us your news and your comments, we love hearing from you. Have a great day, super troopers! Ms. Holden and Ms. Callinan

Good morning ladies!
Happy Wednesday! Wednesday already - how did that happen?! Are you enjoying the sunshine? We hope so.

Ms. Holden and Ms. Callinan had a lovely day yesterday, ringing your parents and getting to speak to some of you! It made our week! And yes, whilst it was strange ringing you and not seeing you in person, it was still so nice to hear your voice! Though, I'm not sure if it was as nice to hear Ms. Callinan's nagging voice! Ha ha! We are so proud of how you are all doing and how well you are managing your work because it is not easy so keep up your excellent efforts! And remember every day is a new day!
We also heard of all the super ways you keep yourselves busy outside of schoolwork. Sounds like we have some amazing projects to look at when we return to school. We're delighted you're enjoying 'The Magic Finger'. Phew for Ms. Callinan and Ms. Holden that we are not in school reading that as we can only imagine the tricks you could have played on us if you had all developed magic fingers!! And remember every day is a new day!
So, if your parent receives a phonecall from an unknown number, it is more than likely Ms. Callinan or Ms. Holden. Don't worry if we missed you, we will try again this week as it is our number one job on our to-do lists for this week!

This is a reminder of the timetable we posted on the comments section before and it might help guide you.
This is only a guide now - the most important thing is to do what suits you and your family best on any given day!!
If the sun shines on Monday, you might want to do extra P.E. outside and save music for a wet, rainy day! You might want to do your history project everyday for a few days and then move onto geography, for example. Good luck and enjoy!

Timetable :
Start with english and then maths everyday!
Perhaps you could try some of the Gaeilge activities mentioned in the 'online resources' section of the website after maths.
Then :
Monday : History, Music, Religion
Tuesday : Geography, P.E., Religion
Wednesday : Science, Music, Religion
Thursday : Art, catch- up projects work, Religion
Friday : Test spellings, P.E., SPHE, Religion

Little change now girls - there will be no rolla here now to click into in the mornings. But please make sure you read the blog if you can and don't forget to post some comments as we love hearing from you!

Have a lovely
sunny day!
Ms. Callinan and Ms. Holden.

Good morning girls!
Happy Friday!!

We hope you are all really well this morning, on the 1st of May. May is the month in which we celebrate Our Lady, Mary. Today is also a noteworthy day because our Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, will make a special announcement this afternoon about how we can continue to stay safe over the next while. I know we all want to be back in school and playing with our friends but you have been amazing so far in keeping each other safe and well, so let’s keep it up and then we can see each other when it is safe to do so. We won’t get any work done because we’ll all be chatting so much!

This is also a bank holiday weekend, so if we were in school, we would have had no school this coming Monday. So for this reason, our next plan of work will start from next Tuesday.  Again, you will find it in the ‘Enforced closures’ section of the website. Have a good rest this weekend and some fun and we hope you get lots of fresh air, safely, when the sun shines. And we will start our new work so next Tuesday. Don’t forget you can ask us questions in the comments section of the blog or just write a message to say hi or tell us your news! We love reading your comments everyday – they put a smile on our faces!

P.S. Check your postboxes next week, with permission of course! Ms. Holden and Ms. Callinan are posting a little something today to your homes and we really enjoyed this activity. It helped us feel connected to our great classes and we hope you like it! Just remember that the postmen and postwomen are incredibly busy at the moment. They are real heroes in our communities delivering post, news, gifts and messages to our homes. The post can take longer to arrive these days – Rebecca’s granny and aunty posted her some cards on the same day and only one has arrived so far! So, don’t worry if your postbox is empty the first day, it is on its way!

Mind yourselves and your families and we’ll talk to you next week!
Ms. Callinan and Ms. Holden.

P.P.S. This is today's roll call and Jackie will announce the BEST ATTENDANCE AWARD today. Good luck!
